This was one-of-a-kind season. Unforgettable.
We were so eager to show that we still had the heart
and the talent to come back, after last season's tragedy.
Personally, it would become even more special, since
early in the season I learned that I had been awarded
a fellowship to go to graduate school at the University
of Texas, and this would probably be my last season in a
long, long time. Barbosa didn't come back. We started out practically with only six: Chendo (11th season), Roger (11th season), Armando (8th season) returning from his knee injury, Juan (7th season), Juanino (2nd season), and Ferna (1st formal season). Gil only showed up for a game before leaving the team. Juanino also left us in the middle of the season. Fortunately, we made Miguel Arámbula (a soccer teammate from Santa Rosa) make his debut and that really paid off. Although we didn't play bad during the first half, we couldn't get the scores we wanted. Struggling with people leaving the team, we couldn't have a consistent rhythm and we had a lot of tough losses. In fact, we lost all of the key matches against Real Cedro, Linda Vista, Italia, and Atlante. We couldn't forget our worst defeat ever when we were trashed 2-12 by Atlante to end the first half of the season. Even worse, we opened the second half with another tough loss against arch-rival Linda Vista to send us to the 7th place (out of 9), and far, very far from playoff hopes. We practically had to beat everyone in our remaining 7 matches, with only six players in our roster. And oh boy we did. We won all the matches, some of them in a very convincing fashion, and a thrilling last-minute win against Adidas kept us live through the last match of the season when we met our "verdugo" Atlante. This time we wanted it more, and finished the season with 7 wins in a row, and playing at a great level. We carried the motivation, the heart, and the talent, throughout the playoffs. After two seasons of absence we were back. In the semi-final, we met Linda Vista, who had defeated us twice this season. In a heck of a thriller, we came from behind and tie the game to force the penalty shoot-out. We made all of our shots and reached the final in an unforgettable, dramatic game. The final was one of the most brilliantly ever played. Two of the most talented squads, Atlante and Dínamo, gave it all. At the end, Atlante paid for all those semi-finals defeats, and we grabbed our fourth title in an unforgettable match 4-1 in front of a packed UDA Gym. Dínamo Tetra-Campeón! We couldn't hold the tears, it was an unbelievable season, coming from behind and showing what it takes to hold a crown. Awesome!!
