This was the first time that the organization of the
tournament was not good. They allowed 8 more teams
(adding up to 32) and opted to have a first half
with both 1st and 2nd Division teams all mixed together
and then to have the 2nd half split into two divisions
according to what was done in the first half.
We, of course, knew what was going to happen in the
first half (pretty much like a pre-season), but had no
choice. For this season we suffered the loss of key players like Armando, who was going to be working a night shift all semester long, Lucio, who got a full-time position as a physics professor at Monterrey Tech in Queretaro, and Jorge, who left too. Our initial roster was then: Roger (8th season), Chendo (7th season), Gil (7th season), Barbosa (6th season), Juan (3rd season), Martín (3rd season), and Pepe (2nd season). David Castañeda, an ex-Econopartes player, joined the team in the middle of the first half. We posted impressive numbers. We had no trouble during the first phase, although there were some tough matches. We had an outstanding second phase and became the first team in the UDA history to finish the regular season unbeaten. We won all the matches, but the last one ending in a thrilling 1-1 tie with Atlante. We met Atlante in the semi-final for second season in a row, and this time we couldn't wrap up with a perfect season as we saw our streak come to an end in a tough 1-3 loss against this great team. We rescued the season with our 6th trophy by beating Becellos in the 3rd Place match. We were very happy with our performance, since we still were able to play great despite the big missing players. This was just too much joy.
