Comments
One of the things that was very evident during past seasons was the tremendous quality level between the teams in the top of the standings, and the teams in the bottom. Every season it was the same story, the top teams would beat the bottom teams by 10+ goals, and more than 70% of the matches were like this. We had been trying to convince the organizers to split the teams into two divisions. It wasn't until this season that they finally heard us. The 24 teams were split into a 16-team Division 2 league and an 8-team Division 1 league. Now, every week would be like a playoff game, and a lot more competitive, just what everyone wanted.

However, we still had to cope with the absence of Rey, Lalo, and Carlos, who did not return. We brought a couple of players from the amazing Santa Rosa team: Eligio Lozano, to play as a goalkeeper, and Javier Ramos (Chololo). Unfortunately, they did not respond to our expectations as they just played 2-3 games and left. Amado also left the team after a couple of games. Tobi, our goalkeeper from Viajes Kino, also tried out but left too after a couple of games. The loyal ones: Armando and Roger in their 6th season, Chendo and Gil, in their 5th season, Barbosa and Lucio, in their 4th season, and Juan in his 1st formal season. In the second half of the season, Jorge returned (5th season), and Martin Acosta, a friend from the neighborhood made his debut.

It was an incredible story. Competition was a lot tougher than it ever was. In the very second match, we were trashed 1-7 by Barcelona. Despite the mentioned absences and departures we still managed to end the first half of the season in 1st place, including a revenge victory over defending champs, Adidas, and an unforgettable 3-3 draw with power-house Real Madrid (formerly Neurodiagnóstico). During the second half we struggled due to injuries, and key absences. One that hurt us was the departure of Gil who found a job in Reynosa. Martín Acosta, a soccer teammate from Santa Rosa joined us to replace Gil. Jorge returned to the team towards the end of the season. We won one game of our last five and made it to the semi-finals not in good shape. We also lost Roger just before the playoffs due to the Hepatitis.

We matched up with 1st place Econopartes, who had not forgotten about last season elimination. The match was awesome, brilliantly played by both teams, but at the end, we prevailed and reached our first final ever. We met again with another old foe, Real Madrid, resulting in a heck of a thriller, one of the best finals ever in front of a packed house. We wrote our most glorious page in team history with a dramatic and exciting 4-2 victory that left us in tears after the final whistle. Our first title, one that had cost us a lot throughout the seasons and throughout this season. Armando, Chendo, Lucio, Jorge, Roger, Barbosa, Juan, and Martín held it up and made the Olympic lap in front of our fans. Unforgettable!!
